Introduction

In this section are Japanese words listed with explanations in English. For example:

 

でる leave, will leave (emerge): vowel base (group 1) verb, nonpast (dictionary form)

 

The Japanese words are followed by the authentic English translation and sometimes a literal translation is given in brackets. After the colon, the standard Japanese linguistic terminology is given for the grammar function of the word. Explanations, and the more familiar terminology which is usually used in Japanese learning are given in brackets.

  • Words - you can listen to and practice new vocabulary and expressions for the lesson.
  • Sentences - you can listen to and practice key sentence structures for the lesson.
